Many Uses For Bamboo

The using of Bamboo has started to become more and more common not only in Asia, where it first started to gain popularity, but all over the world, including in the United States and throughout Europe. Not only can they be used as a nice decoration in any home, there are also a number of practical uses for Bamboo.

For one, a lot of seafood restaurant owners use Bamboo for most of their sushi mats. Otherwise known as rolling mats, chefs use what almost look like place mats made out of Bamboo in order to achieve the perfect roll for all of their sushi combinations. The rolling manor of the mats allow for the rolls of meat, vegetables, and rice to stay together after pulling the mat away so that the consumer does not make a mess while eating the sushi.

Another use for Bamboo these days is for flooring in many homes. This type of wood is very lightweight and still as durable as some of your harder wood types. The process of making Bamboo flooring is done by cutting stalks into thin strips, and then gluing a number of strips together in order to form planks or sheets. The durability of the actual sheets or planks depends on the manufacturers of the flooring, as well as the maturity of the plant that the actual planks and sheets came from. Companies who specialize in making quality Bamboo flooring are Wellmade and Teragren. Another company called Burt and Associates also specializes in selling quality Bamboo that can be used for almost anything in your home.

Yet another use for Bamboo that most people do not know about is for making baseball bats. A number of players throughout the MLB, and even in the minor leagues, use Bamboo baseball bats and have had great success. Even though this type of wood may seem like it would snap easily if someone were trying to hit a baseball with it, bats made out of Bamboo seem to hold up just as good, if not better, than bats made out of harder wood.

Even though most people think of Bamboo as only being associated with Asian countries, the use of this lightweight wood is starting to grow in many countries throughout the world.
